Two pennies and opinions

In the year 2011-2012, I have traded my love for sapience. And so I made it into an album, to prevent it from becoming evanescent.

Don’t be nice to others simply because they are nice to you. Be nice because you, yourself, are a nice person.

The only sea creature I would be considered eaten by is the Kraken. Because the last words I would hear are “Release the Kraken!” That never gets old.

“And you’re absolutely sure you’ll find that someday?”

“Of course. Everyone does eventually. You just never know when or where.”

We all live in the space between one moment and eternity. We meet and part. Everyone lives their lives to the fullest in a world where things change with the passage of time. But I’m sure some things won’t ever change. There are also things that change and can never be gotten back. But we already know. Even if things change, they’ll begin anew. And as long as we have the will, humans will keep moving forward. For we can accelerate.

Sometimes the billions of neurons firing in our brains, help us concoct elaborate scenarios. We imagine ourselves with a dream girl or landing a dream job. An astronaut, rock star or even an United States senator. But fantasies can turn dark. We start to believe there’s a monster under the bed, or that evil forces are aligning themselves against us. All these fantasies, good and bad, stem from an evolutionary imperative. Our brains are exploring potential outcomes that might help us achieve our goals or avoid danger. But if we allow fantasy to overtake our thinking, we can miss the reality that’s right in front of us. And sometimes, reality’s not so bad.

Our ambitions and our dreams give us a glimpse of a beautiful someday….and they can help us get through a sometimes less than beautiful today.

It’s a tricky thing though, ambition.  It can blind us to the price of success.

It can consume us… leading to dangerous obsessions… or empty hedonism.

But no matter how much we are fueled by this natural neurological impulse, ambition isn’t carved in stone.

Dreams change.

And even if we don’t get to climb mountains, there’s still a chance that we can move them.

In the words of those old english poets, you can’t always get what you want.

But if you try sometime, you might find, you get what you need.
